Just north of downtown Hartford, nestled on the banks of the Connecticut River, Riverside Park provides a little escape from the tall buildings and crowds of the city. One of the main draws here are the 4.5 miles of trails that lead you through the lush greenery of the park, as well as under bridges and on paths, with perfect views of the city skyline.
The park also offers a ton of really unique attractions, like the one-of-a-kind community boathouse, an adventure course perfect for the young and young at heart, a cricket field, even a banquet facility for special occasions. When it's warm again, pack a picnic and take advantage of the gazebos and picnic benches all around. They even have charcoal grills for public use. And if you're a bicycle enthusiast, head to the park on Jan. 3-8 of next year for the 2017 USA Cycling Cyclocross Nationals!
