When you think of Hartford, sprawling scenic nature views with gorgeous lakes and waterfalls might not be images that come to mind. Take a couple hours to hike Case Mountain in Manchester, however, and your mind will be forever changed.
There are three lots, located on Spring Street, Line Street, and Case Pond, each of which provides access to a network of seven different trails. Each trail offers different views, but prepare to come across a stone bridge, cascading waterfalls, small streams, and an expansive pond. The summit of Case Mountain is 744 feet above sea level and provides sprawling views of the Connecticut River Valley and skyline of the Hartford area — talk about beautiful!
The area is also perfect for bicycling and jogging. The trails range in length, but the standard hike is a 2.8 mile loop. Visit the website for directions and hike suggestions.
