The Wood Memorial Library and Museum is more than just a lending library, and it's more than just a historical museum. It's also a place where the community comes for special educational events that offer a type of learning that extends beyond the written page or the passive educational exhibit.
In October alone, the Wood Memorial Library and Museum has all kinds of family-friendly activities on the itinerary. On Wednesday, October 11th, actor Todd McLeish will take on the persona of Thomas Edison and lead kids K through 5 on a journey through his illustrious life, explaining how he came up with his most famous inventions. On October 25th from 2 to 4 p.m., families can join Sherlock Holmes as he sets out to solve a mystery. The show is inspired by a radio drama from 1930 based on a short story revolving around Holmes and "The Speckled Band." After October ends, the holiday activities begin, so keep an eye out for the library's locally famous gingerbread house display in the months to come.
